Michael Liuzza is a Singer/Songwriter and Multi-instrumentalist from the West Bank of New Orleans. He is a Writer of works of Poetry/Short Story and a Music Composer. Michael was born on July 16, 1982 in Marrero, Louisiana to French Quarter Musicians Michael Jake Liuzza and Joyce Hebert Liuzza. Michael attended Immaculate Conception School from K-7th. His Elementary Vocal Coach was Janel Ockman. Michael co-wrote the Alma Mater for his Elementary School at age 12, with his father and family. Later, Michael attended Archbishop Shaw High School 8-12th, where he was a Senior Football Captain, (O-Line) & Track & Field athlete- where he threw Discus & Shotput.
In 2000, Michael founded the Jazz project, “Shades of Soul” with childhood friend and current music co-writer Anthony Knighten. Attending college at his state school, Michael graduated from Louisiana State University, (BA-Communication Studies/Theatre. 2004). Michael’s college Vocal Coaches included: Joe Perniciaro, Kenneth Wilks, and Dr. Sarah Baird.Michael was the Lead Singer for a Blues/Jazz/Acoustic project with Guitarist Raj Samkutty named, “Miraj” 2002-04.
Michael was an American Idol (Season 4) Hollywood Finalist. Michael was the Lead Singer for the Rock/Blues project with Songwriter Charles Ravaglia titled, “The Happy Endings” 2004-07. Michael later recorded under The William Smith Orchestra at Omni Sound Studios, Nashville, TN Summer 2008. He has received vocal and instrumental training with Matti-Juhani Pekkanen in Dublin Ireland-Summer/Fall 2009.
Michael develops the Production of Jazz, Blues, and Funk works at Studio Seven17 with Producer Nick Bernard in Baton Rouge, LA. Spring 2010. You can catch him playing on WWOZ in New Orleans.
